WANA: The administration here on Thursday banned display of arms and vehicles with tinted glasses in the jurisdiction of Wana Town, South Waziristan tribal district, for indefinite period following exchange of firing between security forces and a group of militants.

Officials said that the decision was taken after a clash with the militants in which one commander was killed while another received injuries on Wednesday. The incident took place in Wana Bazaar.

The deceased commander was identified as Noor Khan Wazir who was also a member of the so-called peace committee in Wana.

An official said that Noor Khan along with his armed guards came across the security forces in the town. He said that the armed men opened fire on the personnel, which was retaliated. Noor Khan was killed while his accomplice was wounded.

Commander Noor Khan had an affiliation with the local Taliban commander Mullah Nazir who was killed in a US drone attack in January 2013.

Following the firing incident, the deputy commissioner imposed ban on display of weapons and movement of vehicles with tinted glasses in Wana Town and its nearby areas. Banners appeared in the town, asking the residents not to display weapons and avoid movement in vehicles with tinted glasses.

Officials said that the ban would continue for indefinite period and legal action would be taken against violators of the law.
