KARACHI: A police constable was shot at and wounded by suspected robbers for putting up resistance to a robbery attempt in North Karachi late on Saturday night, said officials at the Sir Syed police station.

They added that constable Adil Ahmed, 24, was sitting at a makeshift shop outside his home in Sector-11-C/1 when armed motorcyclists appeared there. They tried to snatch cash and other valuables from him. As he put up resistance to the robbery attempt, the robbers opened fire on him and fled without taking anything, said area SHO Nawaz Brohi.

The constable was posted in the investigation branch. He sustained a bullet wound in the right shoulder and was taken to the Aga Khan University Hospital, where his condition was stated to be out-of-danger.
