KARACHI: Road accidents on Tuesday claimed three lives in different parts of the city, officials said.

In Malir a motorcyclist lost control of his two-wheeler and fell while turning the motorbike near check post 6 of Malir Cantt. The injured was rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where he died during treatment.

“The deceased was identified as 45-year-old Imran Ali, resident of Malir Colony. He was riding home from his workplace in Federal B Industrial Area when he met with the fatal accident. The body was handed over to the family after medico-legal formalities,” said a police official.

In Landhi, a pedestrian was crushed to death by a speeding truck while he was crossing a road. An official said the man, who remained unidentified and appeared to be a labourer, was hit by the truck near Murtaza Chowrangi. The truck drove away. The body was shifted to the Edhi morgue in Sohrab Goth for want of identification.

Another motorcyclist succumbed to wounds after being hit by a car in the Bin Qasim area. Zubair Iqbal, 19, was riding to work when he was hit by the car near the Colony Gate bus stop. The car was chased by area people but the driver escaped, added the official.

Meanwhile, a 24-year-old construction labourer died when he fell from the second floor of an under-construction building in New Karachi on Tuesday, police said.

They said the victim, identified as Mohammad Aqib, was busy with his fellow labourers at the house in Sector 11-F when he fell off the second floor of the building.
