Over 1,100 receive degrees at SZABIST convocation

KARACHI: Some 1,153 students were awarded with degrees, including seven PhDs, at the 16th convocation of the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) which was held at the Expo Centre on Sunday evening.

Deputy Chairman of Senate Saleem Mandviwalla was chief guest at the programme while Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari, Sindh Health Minister and chancellor SZABIST Dr Azra Pechuho, and Shahnaz Wazir Ali, president of the university, attended the convocation along with faculty, students and parents.

Some 11 of the graduates received gold medals and 15 others were awarded with silver medals for excelling in various disciplines.

The degrees were awarded for disciplines of management science, social sciences, education, media sciences, bio-science, computer science and engineering programmes etc.

Dr Pechuho congratulated the students who received graduation, post-graduation and PhD degrees, adding that SZABIST was imparting quality education to its students.

She said the number of students who had graduated in 2019 was the highest in the past 16 years.
