ISLAMABAD: Nine years after the Capital Development Authority (CDA) began verifying its employees’ academic degrees, the process has still not been completed.

Taking notice of the slow progress, the authority’s management on Sunday directed for it to be completed within a month, a statement said.

“CDA management has directed the secretary CDA board to finalise cross verification of degrees and other educational certificates of gazetted employees, within a month. It has been further directed that officers who had not yet submitted their degrees and educational certificates for cross verification be given one week time failing which the authority will presume that their degrees are bogus and action would be initiated as per CDA employees service regulations,” it added.

For the verification of educational certificates and other documents of non-gazetted employees, the human resource directorate has been told to issue circulars to the heads of all formations to ensure these documents are submitted by staff working under their administrative control to the security directorate in a fortnight.

Officials who have not yet submitted their documents will be given seven days, failing which the authority will assume their certificates are bogus.

The statement said the CDA management has pursued the matter of pending inquiries, leading to the conclusion of 30 inquiries. The human resource department has been told to issue show-cause notices to inquiry officers who have not yet submitted reports in order to conclude the remaining 15.

Inquiry officers have been directed to complete the inquiries within 15 days or they will be charged on grounds of negligence.
