LAHORE: The University of Engineering and Technology syndicate has approved Rs4.48 billion budget for 2019-20.

The budget was approved in a meeting which was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar here on Wednesday. A sum of Rs4,304 million was allocated for development projects and Rs3,804m set aside for sub-campuses. An amount of Rs500m was earmarked for the Lahore campus.

A substantial amount will be used for research and publication.

USAID: Deputy Chief (USAID) Agriculture Office Mr Malick Haidra visited the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore, and called on Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Masood Rabbani here on Wednesday.

Prof Dr Masood Rabbani spoke about collaboration between UVAS and USAID for the uplift of livestock, dairy sector especially farming community of rural areas in Punjab. He talked about the role of Centre for Applied Policy Research in Livestock for developing policy papers, conducting various field studies for the development of livestock, dairy and poultry sectors. He said the CAPRIL developed the livestock vision 2025 and conducted a study on adaptability of Holstein cattle in Punjab.

Malick Haidra said the purpose of the visit was to find out opportunities in the area of human resource development and to check the exotic animals’ health and disease management systems, their productivity and constraints. He also emphasised the academia and private sector partnership which was key to uplift of livestock sector.

He said public private partnership would be very beneficial not only for the flourishing of livestock, dairy and poultry industries but also for the farming community.
