NOWSHERA: Two persons were shot dead by rivals when they were returning home after appearing in a local court in a murder case here on Tuesday.

According to police, Amir Nawab Khan and his nephew, Attaullah, residents of Misri Banda, Akora Khattak, were shot dead at Hakimabad, Nowshera Cantonment when the rival party allegedly opened fire on them. They were returning home after appearing in court.

Police said that both the parties had an old enmity. The family of Amir Nawab was accused of killing Hazar Gul of the same locality and a case was under trial in the court.

Police said members of the affected party registered FIR in Nowshera Cantonment police station, stating that Baz Mohammad, his father Noor Mohammad and his wife allegedly opened fire on Amir and Attaullah, killing them on the spot. The accused managed to escape.

The bodies were shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Nowshera, for autopsy.

The cantonment police registered FIR and started further investigations.
