‘Militant’ killed in Kech shootout

GWADAR: A suspected militant was killed during an exchange of fire with security forces in the Tump area of Kech district on Saturday, officials said.

According to security officials, Frontier Corps personnel were passing by the Gomazai area of Tump when armed men opened fire on them. The FC personnel retaliated, and heavy exchange of fire continued for a while. As a result, an attacker was killed while the rest managed to escape.

Security officials handed over the body to Levies for identification. The man was identified as Mehrab Khan.

Levies personnel seize 1,500kg hashish

A search operation was launched in the area to trace out the militants involved in the attack.

Meanwhile, the Levies personnel seized 1,500kg hashish from a truck in the Talar area in Pasni Tehsil of Gwadar district on Saturday.

Pasni assistant commissioner Jamil Ahmed Rind said that the truck was on its way to the port city of Gwadar from Turbat.

Levies personnel patrolling the area found the truck parked on the main highway as it had run out of fuel. During search, Levies found a huge quantity of hashish in the truck. However, no arrest was reported.

Gwadar deputy commissioner Wasim Ahmed announced a cash award of Rs250,000 for the Levies personnel who seized hashish from the truck.
