KOHAT: A man was killed while an elderly woman and a traffic warden were injured when an attacker opened fire on the victim in a bazaar here on Monday, causing panic among the people.

The accused was arrested by the wounded warden after a chase near the government higher secondary school, No 2.

The city police said Sohail Nawaz of Muhammadzai had come to the bazaar for shopping when his rival, Naveedullah, shot him dead with repeated shots.

An elderly woman, Kainaat Bibi, who was passing by the spot, also sustained bullet injuries. The police rushed to the spot and shifted the dead and the injured to the KDA teaching hospital.

After autopsy the body was handed over to relatives.

The regional and district police officers, Tayyab Hafeez Cheema and Wahid Mehmood, visited the hospital and gave Rs60,000 cash prize to the injured constable for his bravery.
