LAKKI MARWAT/UPPER DIR: Two personnel of Frontier Corps and Levies were shot dead in separate incidents in Lakki Marwat and Upper Dir districts on Monday.

An FC man named Atta Mohammad was killed by unidentified persons in Jhangkhel village in Darra Pezu town of Lakki.

Police said the deceased had come to the village on leave a few days ago. Khan Mohammad, brother of the deceased, told police that Atta had left home on a motorcycle for offering evening prayers. He said they came to know at midnight that body of Atta was lying on the village’s street.

“When I reached the place I found the body lying in a pool of blood and the motorcycle parked alongside,” he maintained, saying that his brother had no enmity with anyone.

Police said they had registered a case against unknown killers and began investigations.

Meanwhile, a Levies Force official was gunned down while returning from duty in Chomra area of Upper Dir.

Police said that the victim identified as Nasib Zada was going to home after performing duty late at night, when unknown persons opened indiscriminate fire on him near his home town in Chomra, leaving him critically injured.

He succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to hospital. Police said the reason behind the murder was stated to be an old enmity.

Deputy commissioner Irfanullah Mehsud also visited the victim’s house to offered condolences. He said the killing was a big loss to the Levies Force.
