UPPER DIR: The body of a young boy, who was buried by a snow avalanche in Sheel Damberkon area of Upper Dir late on Friday, was recovered after a nightlong search in early hours of Saturday.

Another boy accompanying the victim on a hunting excursion in the snow-covered mountains of the area was found safe soon after the incident, according to police and locals.

They said two boys identified as Ahmad Shah and Rahamdad were hit by a huge avalanche on Friday. As a result, Ahmad was buried in the snow, while Rahamdad remained unhurt. He raised the alarm and informed the locals, who reached the spot and started search for Ahmad.

Assistant commissioner Syed Raza Shah along with Levies, civil defence volunteers and police officials also reached the spot and took part in the search operation for the missing boy. According to police and residents, the body was found buried in the snow after 14-hour-long search and rescue operation.
