PESHAWAR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has demanded of the National Accountability Bureau to make public details of ‘financial irregularities’ in the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project so that the people could know about the claims of transparency of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leadership.

In a statement here on Sunday, PML-N provincial president Amir Muqam said that the cost of BRT was increasing gradually due to delay in completion of the project and its main reason was incompetence of the contracting firm and government.

He claimed that NAB had already collected data about the involvement of some personalities in corruption and demanded that the details should be shared with public so that the people could compare the claims and deeds of PTI leaders.

Mr Muqam said that cracks had started appearing in the BRT structure though the project was still under construction. He said that three metro projects in Rawalpindi, Multan and Rawalpindi had been completed with Rs90 billion, while the cost of BRT had crossed Rs90 billion.

He alleged that substandard material was used in BRT protect, but the government was least interested to take action against the concerned people. He demanded constitution of a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe into the project and arrest all those involved in corrupt practices.
