KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi on Thursday arrested former deputy commissioner of Malir on charges of illegal sale of official land worth over Rs2 billion.

NAB apprehended Kazi Jan Muhammad in Defence, Phase-VII.

He was wanted in an investigation regarding “illegal disposal of 27 government plots in sectors 31 and 31 of Scheme-33, Karachi.”

He allegedly issued fake allotment orders as deputy commissioner of Malir of a “fake goth named Abdullah Shah Gazi, Block F-II”, in connivance with other revenue officials.

NAB said the value of the land illegally disposed of by the accused was worth around Rs. 2.5 billion.

The accused was also wanted by NAB in several other cases as well.

Sources said that Kazi Jan Muhammad, whose name was included in the list of 172 persons put on the exit control list recently, became personal secretary to the then Sindh minister during the 1990s as being an information officer.
