RAWALPINDI: A couple was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a room of their house located on 7th Road in New Town police area on Saturday, police said.

The deceased were identified as Pervaiz Rafique, 55 and his wife Saeeda Pervaiz, 50. Their bodies were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital for autopsy, which would establish the reason behind the death, the police said.

According to the police investigators, the couple was living with their relatives in the house. The couple went to sleep on Friday night but did not wake up in the morning which made their relatives worried.

They said they called the police and Rescue 1122 which opened the door and found the couple dead, besides shifting the bodies to DHQ Hospital for postmortem.

Talking to the media, New Town SHO Qaiser Nadeem said police had registered a case and were waiting for the medico-legal report to establish the cause of the death.
