MULTAN: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Saturday arrested five suspected terrorists from Bahawalpur who were planning to target sensitive places in south Punjab.

CTD officials claimed that a team conducted a raid and arrested the suspects, who were planning attacks on sensitive places in south Punjab. They said the arrested terrorists were members of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan and Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent. The suspects were also facilitators of high-profile terrorists, the officials claimed.

The CTD officials identified the suspects as Muhammad Tariq alias Hakim Abdullah, Azhar Saeed, Hafiz Sajjad, Daud Nazir and Hanif.

Explosive material, hand grenades, weapons, safety fuse and cash were also seized from the possession of the suspects. The CTD sent the suspect behind bars after registering a case against them.
