ISLAMABAD: Salim Saifullah Khan was unanimously re-elected as president of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) for a term of four years at the annual general meeting of the federation which was held here at the PTF Complex on Saturday.

After the conclusion of the AGM, the elections for president, secretary and treasurer were held in which Senator Wasim Sajjad acted as the chief election commissioner. Representatives of the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) and the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) witnessed the election process.

Besides Salim’s re-election, retired Col. Gul Rehman and Mohammad Khalil Chughtai were elected unopposed as PTF secretary and treasurer, respectively.

It is relevant to note here that Salim Saifullah group won the elections unopposed as no other group or individuals submitted the nomination papers within the prescribed deadline, which expired a few days ago. Therefore, Saturday’s elections was merely a formality.

After his election as president, Salim thanked the affiliated units for their support and reposing confidence in him and his team.

“The vision envisaged by me and my team has gained momentum and we will continue to work with renewed enthusiasm for promoting tennis in Pakistan,” the newly-elected president remarked.

“The construction of synthetic courts [at the PTF Complex] will provide players with upgraded facilities, and will help generate more tennis activities.”

The AGM was attended by representatives of the affiliated units and the PTF management. Besides Senator Wasim, Senator Dilawar Abbas also attended the meeting.
