LAHORE: A female medical student was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the room of a private hostel in Johar Town early on Thursday.

The student ‘R’ of Sialkot city was studying in a private university in Johar Town and resided along with some other girl students in a hostel near her varsity, a police official said.

He said the deceased girl’s roommate had informed the hostel administration about the incident after she found ‘R’ lying unresponsive in the room.

The police and the forensic science experts inspected the crime scene and found no torture mark on the girl’s body.

The police also recorded the statement of her roommate and other girls residing in the hostel, who also reported no unusual happening there.

The police have called the parents of the deceased girl and any further action would be taken in the light of their statement, he said.

10 injured: As many as 10 people, including women, were injured when a passenger van collided with a dumper in the jurisdiction of Kahna police here on Thursday.

A police official said apparently the accident occurred owing to rash driving.

Quoting some witnesses he said the drivers of both the vehicles were driving fast which led to the accident near Sundar Estate.

He said 10 passengers of the van got injured in the accident, one of them seriously, and were shifted to hospital by the Rescue 1122 ambulances.

The police seized the vehicles and started investigation.
