LAHORE: A three-story commercial building housing electronics shops collapsed on Multan Road on Sunday, because of unplanned digging on the adjacent plot. However, no loss of life or injury was reported.

According to locals, workers were busy digging for construction of a basement on a plot when the adjacent three-storey building housing electronics shops started crumbling and then collapsed with a bang.

The building owner, Mr Muzammil, told the media that he had warned the contractor against excessive digging but he ignored the warnings and continued the work which resulted in the collapse.

He appealed to the authorities to take action against the contractor and owner of the adjacent plot.

He also lodged a complaint with the Gulshan-i-Ravi police station.
