KARACHI: A woman on Saturday jumped out of a moving car belonging to a ride-hailing service on Sharea Faisal within the Saddar police station limits, accusing the driver of harassing her.

Police arrested the driver on charges of harassment, said City SSP Dr Samiullah Soomro. The woman was travelling in the cab from Gulshan-i-Iqbal and when it reached near a hotel, she jumped out of it onto the main road. A police party rushed to the spot and brought both the driver and the woman to the police station.

The woman in her statement alleged that she jumped as the driver was allegedly harassing her. She did not suffer any injury. The driver denied the charges.

However, the SSP said that the Saddar police had registered an FIR (272/2018) against the held driver on a complaint of the woman under Section 354 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
