SAHIWAL: The Civil Lines police on Tuesday registered a case against two lawyers and six other people who intimidated a judge, scuffled with court staff and ransacked furniture during hearing of a case.

District and Sessions Judge Rana Masood Akhtar banned the entry of ‘touts’ on court premises on public complaints. During investigation of more than 100 cases, it was revealed that a group of lawyers supported the ‘touts’ and helped them become litigants in many cases.

It is learnt that Advocates Bilal Saeed and Mufti Amjad nurtured a grudge against the judge. During hearing of a case on Tuesday, Bilal Saeed who is alleged to have been threatening the D&SJ for a couple of days abused him and threw files at the judge.

The court staff reacted and this led to a scuffle during which a group of lawyers, six unidentified men and court staff were involved.

A police team led by DPO Ghulam Mubashir Miaken made it to the court and controlled the situation.

Police registered a case against the lawyers and others under 7-ATA, and 506/186, 353/427, 148, and 149 of PPC.
