SHANGLA: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf workers in Shangla have demanded of the party leadership to award poll ticket for PK-23 constituency here to former MPA Shaukat Yousazai instead of a newcomer if the party is to win the seat in the coming general elections.

“If Pervez Khattak, the former KP chief minister, and Asad Qaisar, the speaker, can contest elections on two constituencies then why Shaukat Yousafzai cannot contest the elections from Peshawar and Shangla simultaneously,” Said Ali Baaz, a PTI activist and Bely Baba village nazim, insisted, while talking to Dawn on Saturday.

He said some political figures were joining the PTI to get poll tickets, which would damage the party’s reputation in Shangla.

Ijaz Kamal, a PTI tehsil councillor, claimed Mr Yousafzai had carried out record development in the district, and on the basis of which, he should be given the poll ticket for PK-23 to defeat the PML-N in Shangla.

A senior PTI leader and NA-10 ticket hopeful, Engr Abdul Tawab, said there would be no competition with PML-N if Mr Yousafzai was not awarded the ticket.
