KARACHI: The Customs Court was on Saturday informed that the Sindh police chief had constituted a committee to probe the involvement of the Thatta SSP and his subordinates in the escape of two suspects allegedly involved in the smuggling of Iranian diesel.

A statement submitted in court on behalf of Inspector General of Police A.D. Khowaja said that the committee, headed by Additional IG Aftab Ahmed Pathan, would complete the probe against Thatta SSP Haseeb Afzal Baig and his subordinates and submit a report within three days.

It stated that a stern action would be taken against those found responsible and the court would also be informed in this regard.
