KARACHI: Spurred by Usman Javed’s three-figure knock, Jaffer Brothers inflicted a shock 18-run defeat upon defending champions Dollar East in the 31st Aga Khan Gymkhana T20 Ramazan cricket tournament at the Aga Khan Gymkhana Ground here on Tuesday.

Usman struck 106 — the first century of this year’s competition — to follow his two back-to-back hundreds last year for Omar CC as Jaffer Brothers made 208-3 in the Group ‘A’ match. Usman slammed 15 fours and two sixes during his hurricane 55-ball innings.

Noor Wali blasted an unbeaten 61 off 32 balls with three fours and four huge sixes, while opener Shahzar Hasan contributed a 20-ball 27 with two fours as he and Usman put on 86 for the opening stand.

Dollar East made strong respond as Jahandad Khan blasted a splendid 26-ball 52 studded with five sixes and one four. Ijaz Ali Shah contributed 48 off 24 balls with nine boundaries and one six while both added 52 for the fourth wicket.

Ramiz Aziz made 23 off 12 balls with three sixes while discarded Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal could score 16 off 12 balls.

But in the end Dollar East could post only 190 all out in 19.2 overs.

Usman Javed was named man-of-the-match award.

Summarised scores:

JAFFER BROTHERS 208-3 in 20 overs (Usman Javed 106, Noor Wali 61 not out, Shahzar Hasan 20; Azam Hussain 2-36); DOLLER EAST 190 in 19.2 overs (Jahandad Khan 51, Ijaz Ali Shah 48, Rameez Aziz 23, Umar Akmal 16; Amjad Manzoor 2-37, Ashiq Ali 2-45).
