TOBA TEK SINGH: Two minor siblings died and their father was injured seriously when the motorcycle they were travelling on hit a roadside tree on Kamalia-Mamoonkanjun road near Chak 515-GB on Monday evening.

Bilal Siddique, his children Maria Bibi, 5 and Abubakar, 4, and sisters-in-law Asma Bibi and Samina Bibi were travelling on a motorcycle to Basti Hameed Wali in Mamoon Kanjun from Mian Channu when due to over-speeding their vehicle hit a roadside tree.

All three injured were admitted to the Kamalia THQ Hospital.

Meanwhile, three people were injured seriously when a car hit a roadside tree on Kamalia-Toba road near Kamalia sugar mills. Police said all three wounded, including Allah Ditta, Riasat Ali and Tahira Babi, were referred to Toba DHQ Hospital from Kamalia THQ Hospital.

ILLEGAL CONFINEMENT: Rajana police raided an outhouse of farmer Shahzad Ghafoor in Chak 338-GB on Monday on the orders of Additional District and Sessions Judge Amer Habib.

Police recovered eight family members allegedly confined as labourers. Naziran Bibi had filed a petition and claimed that her son Ahmad Hasan, his wife Mumtaz Bibi, two sons Mudassar and Sanwal and four daughters Muqaddas, Zinsha, Asia and Asma were in the custody of Ghafoor, who had barred them from leaving the outhouse for the last few months and was using them as labourers.

Police recovered and produced the eight family members before the court that released all of them.

FIRE: Wheat crop on 15 acres worth more than Rs1 million was gutted due to a fire in Chak 689/33 GB near Pirmahal on Monday.

Farmers put out the fire themselves. Farmer Muhammad Akram claimed the fire had been caused due to a short circuit in the harvester when wheat was being harvested.
