PESHAWAR: The University of Peshawar on Thursday inked a Memorandum of Understanding with CYKIQ to provide a short distance bicycle commute for students, teachers and residents on the campus.

A UoP press release issued here on Thursday said that pro-vice chancellor Prof Mohammad Abid and CEO of CYKIQ company Hamza Afridi signed the MoU at the campus.

The UoP would become the second university in the country after NUST, Islamabad, to provide this bicycle renting facility to its customers on the campus. The project is aimed at having a greener, pollution-free and healthier campus.

The project would kick start with the provision of 20 bicycles to the university and would reach at the tally of 150 at the end of the year. The deputy director student societies, UoP, would monitor the progress along focal persons and employees appointed by CYKIQ.

The renting facility would be availed through third party wallet i.e. Jazz, Easy Paisa. The renting amount would be Rs5-15 per 30 minutes ride depending on the time the commuter would take to reach a destination. The renting space would be provided at different locations of the university.
