SARGODHA: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F (JUI-F) leader Fazalur Rehman is also reinforcing the stance of the ruling party that parliament is a supreme institution, empowered to legislate, therefore other state institutions must acknowledge its supremacy for the smooth running of democracy.

The ally of the PML-N government, Mr Rehman, said at the Mufti Mehmood Conference late on Thursday that courts and the executive were under legal obligations to implement the laws made by parliament.

He alleged that some people were following an American agenda to foment confrontation between the democratic government and various institutions only to create anarchy in the country.

“Nawaz Sharif is the head of the largest political party of the country but he and his family are being targeted (in the name of accountability),” the JUI-F chief said, adding that this was not accountability (of the Sharifs) but some political agenda.

He reminded the audience that a few years ago, Pakistan was on the brink of bankruptcy but today it was economically strong, thanks to the efforts of the government.

He said that he had decided to bring awareness to the youth in the country about the supremacy of parliament.

Mr Rehman said that in the past four years, no case of corruption was reported in the country.

He said that religious parties would jointly field their candidates in the elections all over the Pakistan to establish “Nizam-i-Mustafa” in the country.

Mr Rehman also criticised his arch rival, Imran Khan, alleging he was working under a Jewish lobby while the people had realised his anti-state agenda. He also condemned those who cursed parliament, saying that such people should not be given honour to sit in parliament.
