BRISBANE: Australian batsman Chris Lynn will not participate in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after suffering yet another shoulder injury during the T20 tri-series final in Auckland on Wednesday.

The fluent right-hander, who was to represent Lahore Qalandars in PSL, has all but ruled himself out of the league starting today in the UAE, but hopes to play in the Indian Premier League later this year.

“I’m disappointed to not go to the PSL as planned [this week], but I’ll now focus on rehabilitation and working as hard as I can, with the hope to still take part in the Indian Premier League later this year,” Lynn said.

Lynn suffered the blow after an awkward fall during the ninth over of the Black Caps’ innings at Eden Park.

Fielding at mid-wicket, Lynn sprinted to his left to stop a ball and reached across his body with his right arm before appearing to jar it on the turf.

Australia’s medical staff inspected the damage and escorted Lynn from the field, with the batsman clutching his right arm in pain.

It was later confirmed that Lynn had popped his right shoulder out. While medical staff were able to put it back in place, he was sent for scans and later emerged with his arm in a sling.

“Chris dislocated his right shoulder after landing awkwardly on it when fielding the ball,” said Bupa Support Team Physiotherapist Alex Kountouris. “His shoulder was able to be put back into place at the ground and he was consequently sent for X-Rays which revealed no major bone injury.

“At this stage Chris will not travel to the Pakistan Super League in Dubai. He will return to Brisbane to undergo further scans and assessment and from there we will have a better understanding of the ongoing management, along with the return to play time frames.”

Lynn said he was hopeful of playing for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL later this year.
