KARAK: People of Chokara union council on Saturday complained about bad shape of roads and the state-run schools.

They aired their concerns at an open Katcheri called by deputy commissioner Shafiullah Khan to get firsthand information about the problems facing the people of the area.

The deputy commissioner asked the heads of line departments present on the occasion to expedite work on the ongoing uplift projects in the area and complete them within the given timeframe.

On the complaint of the people regarding encroachments, the deputy commissioner directed the revenue department to remove encroachments in the all bazaars and on roadsides.

Assistant Commissioner, Takht-i-Nusrati, Mohsin Salahuddin and tehsil nazim Ataullah were also present.

The deputy commissioner resolved that the people would be facilitated up to maximum level in the available resources and added that no artificial hurdles would be tolerated on the part of any department or individual in the resolution of people’s problems.

DILAPIDATED SCHOOL BUILDING: The dilapidated building of government high school, Daggar Nari, can collapse anytime, as according to locals, the primary school was established in 1903, which was upgraded to high level in 1982, but the building was not reconstructed.

Talking to mediapersons on Saturday, they said the crumbling building posed dangers to the life of students and staff.

The school’s vice principal told journalists that the building had developed dangerous cracks, risking the life of students and teachers. He appealed to the authorities to release special grant for reconstruction of the building.

DRUG SMUGGLER ARRESTED: The police claimed to have arrested an inter-provincial drug smuggler and also seized 12kg hashish from him.

Acting on a tip-off, DSP headquarters Abid Khan Afridi along with a police party and Rescue 15 personnel intercepted a car going towards Kohat near Karak toll plaza and recovered 12kg hashish from the car.

Police also arrested an accused identified as Hukamzada of Tappi Kanda and impounded the car.

A case was registered against the accused.
