THE fundamental rights of all citizens are guaranteed in the constitution. One of these rights is to provide footpaths to the residents of the housing societies.
It is, however, a matter of great concern and neglect by a prime housing society like DHA, Lahore, that no footpaths have been provided other than on the main boulevards in all its sectors, including newly built phases like phase V, VI, VII and VIII.
May I ask the DHA, Lahore, the reason of this oversight? DHA Lahore also compromises the fundamental rights of pedestrians who do not like to always use a vehicle to visit nearby shops and mosques and walk their children to schools.
Perhaps for the same reason Lahore’s old culture of morning and evening stroll with families has died.
It is true there are parks in every sector of DHA, Lahore, but it is the responsibility of housing society to provide footpaths in all lanes in all sectors for the safety of pedestrians and promoting culture of walking.
