KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead in an ‘encounter’ in Landhi in the early hours of Sunday morning, police said.

They added that a police party on patrol signalled two men riding a motorcycle to stop near Karbala Ground in the C-44 area of Landhi-6.

However, the men accelerated and opened fire, upon which the police returned fire as a result of which the pillion rider sustained two bullet wounds and fell off the bike while his companion escaped.

The injured suspect was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The incident occurred at around 1.35am.
