LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief says party MNA Dawar Kundi will be expelled for ‘violation of discipline’.
PTI central information secretary Shafqat Mahmood, however, says the MNA is yet to be expelled from the party though complaints about discipline violations against him have been received.
Mr Kundi had recently alleged that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had protected the suspects involved in stripping and parading a 16-year-old girl in Dera Ismail Khan.
It is learnt that the MNA has also made statements against the party as well as the chief minister. Besides not attending any party meeting, Mr Kundi had not complained to the party leaders about any wrong and instead spoke to the media.
Party chairman Imran Khan said Kundi is a dissident and estranged member of the party. “He is a liar and will be expelled from the party,” Mr Khan has said.
The PTI information secretary said there was a proper system of anybody’s joining and expulsion from the party. He said the party was sending a show-cause notice to Mr Kundi to know his point of view. “Action will be taken against Kundi, if found guilty of party discipline,” he said and added serious code of conduct violation could entail punishment including expulsion from the party.
Dawar Kundi says he can’t be shown the door without proper hearing.
