I AM an expatriate and have been working in Saudi Arabia for the last 18 years. I work hard to make the lives of my parents and family comfortable. Over the years I saved enough to buy a 500-square-yard double unit bungalow in Gulshan-i-Iqbal.

The financial aspects of this property purchase were completed a few days ago and I asked my solicitors to complete the deal by concluding the formalities with the concerned sub-registrar for the registration and sale transaction of the bungalow.

I was astonished to hear what my lawyers had to say. They told me that registration of sale transactions and all such connected matters of properties all over Sindh stood suspended since March 2017 because lower cadre officials of the revenue department had decided to take advantage of a High Court ruling about newly constructed premises and stop work.

The sub-registrars have refused to entertain any public dealing in this respect despite the honourable court issuing clear directives in the matter. I am in a quandary as how to get the property registered in my name, especially since I will go abroad after spending a month in Karachi on vacations.
