LAHORE: Lahore Blues won the 70th Independence Day of Pakistan women’s cycling team sprint, organised by the Punjab Sports Board, here on Monday.

Lahore Whites clinched the second position while Lahore College, University earned the third position.

In the men’s category, Aqib Ali of Lahore Blues won the Keirin race, while Noman Ali of Lahore Whites claimed the silver medal and Rizwan Gulzar of Lahore Blues claimed the bronze medal.

In the elimination race for men, Aqib Ali again earned the gold medal for Lahore Blues and Noman Ali finished with the silver medal.

In Lahore-Kahna-Lahore race, M. Arsalan of Sahiwal won the gold medal while M. Ali of Lahore Whites notched up the silver medal.

Director Sports Anees Sheikh was the chief guest on the closing ceremony.

Former Olympian cyclist M. Aashiq also graced the occasion.

Team Sprint (women): 1 Lahore Blues (Alvina-Amna-Haram); 2 Lahore Whites (Nimra-Esha-Minahil); 3 Lahore College, University (Maria-Sadaf-Fatima).

Keirin race (men): 1 Aqib Ali (Lahore Blues); 2 Noman Ali (Lahore Whites); 3 Rizwan Gulzar (Lahore Blues).

Men’s elimination race: 1 Aqib Ali (Lahore Blues); 2 Noman Ali (Lahore Whites); 3 Rizwan Gulzar (Lahore Blues).

Lahore to Kahna race: 1 M. Arsalan (Sahiwal); 2 M. Ali (Lahore Whites); 3 Rizwan Gulzar (Lahore Blues).

Kahna to back Lahore: 1 Aqib Shah (Lahore); 2 M. Ali (Lahore); 3 Rizwan Gulzar (Lahore).
