MULTAN: Veteran politician Javed Hahsmi says the Panama Papers verdict will have far-reaching consequences and there will be a time when the judiciary will avoid speaking about it just as is the case of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

Speaking to the media here on Friday, he advised the PML-N to use its energy to strengthen institutions rather than supporting Nawaz Sharif.

“In this case, I am not defending Nawaz Sharif because my struggle is for all the politicians. As there is right to oppose any decision, the Panama Papers case leaves a lot to be desired as certain aspects have not been addressed. This decision will affect the judiciary, politics, economics and the lives of the masses besides having bearing on international affairs,” he said.

He regretted that democratic continuity would suffer because of the Supreme Court’s decision.

Hashmi said he had always taken the stand that Nawaz Sharif and his family should face accountability.
