Hosts Azerbaijan win Islamic Games with 75 gold medals

BAKU: Hosts Azerbaijan clinched the top position with 162 medals including 75 gold while Turkey finished runners-up with 195 medals including 71 gold and Iran finished third with 98 medals including 39 gold as the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games came to close here on Monday.

Uzbekistan finished fourth, Bahrain fifth and Algiers ended up in fifth spot. In all, around six thousand athletes from 54 countries took part in the 13-day Games.

Pakistan participated in fifteen of the twenty one disciplines contested at the Islamic Games, bagging 12 medals in all including three silver and nine bronze.
