20 kilogrammes of heroin were recovered from a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight at Islamabad Airport on May 22, DawnNews reported.
Flight PK785 was destined to depart for London from Benazir Bhutto International Airport when it was searched in a scheduled inspection.
Speaking to Dawn.com, PIA spokesperson Mashhood Tajwar confirmed that contraband was recovered from the flight.
Tajwar said four planes were scheduled to be searched today, out of which the flight bound for London was one. The search operation was led by the Anti-Narcotics Force and PIA's security team.
After a thorough search of the plane, the flight was allowed to resume after a delay of more than two hours, the spokesperson said.
The prime minister's adviser on aviation, Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan, ordered an inquiry into the matter and insisted that those responsible be dealt with according to the law.
A week ago, British officials said they had found a "quantity of heroin" on the same flight in London after it landed at Heathrow Airport.
The authorities said British National Crime Agency officials were investigating the case.
"No arrests have been made, enquiries are ongoing,” an official associated with the agency had told Dawn.com in an emailed response.

No arrests will be made. JIT will be formed to find out who deposited narcotics in kitchen, engine or toilets. The report will be made public in 60 days. If the responsible person is closely connected to powerful house , he will be fired. What a shame? and definitely an insider job. With all the security cameras installed around airport, planes and hangers, it should not be too difficult to identify culprits. It can only be the airplane maintenance staff, security or the crew that can be involved. Who knows this is an attempt to malign PIA to clear the way for privatization. It is definitely in the interest of the airline staff to help with this investigation.

Just imagine the audacity and courage of the players involved in this act, only week before the same plane was got searched and found narcotics in London, as well. But still, boy, these guys are so confident that, this time they went for the heavier stuff, from a few gram to straight 20Kg of heroine. Boy hats off to PIA and the security at the airport(both places), they are so confident they can pull it through, may be their success rate is so high over the period,the it embolden them to act this way, nothing going to change.

I don't want to sound a conspiracy theorist. However, who has vested interest in destruction of PIA? I believe there are some, if not many, in both MPLN and PPP. Advisor to the PM has already 'requested' the senate committee to shut PIA.

They must have a day in court.

Yes the cure is simple. Sack the top echelon of the company and let them face the law.
They do not have a proprietary right to be in competent and cray on regardless. We all know they have backers in power and possibly, just possibly, some of them have share in the proceeds !

We hear it all too often the perpetrators involved in criminal activity will be dealt with severely acoording to LAW. Well, that is what the adviser to the PM, Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan, is saying. Only a week or two ago heroin was found in PIA plane at London Heathrow, no one has been caught and no one is dealt with according to Pakistani Law. Why? What has become of our country where it seems we are all criminals living in a place where there is only a law of the jungle applies.

The drug mafia, PIA staff, ANF and civil aviation authorities are involved in this drug trafficking. There is lot of money to made if the plan succeeds to smuggle drugs to the west. British authorities had a tip from their sources in Islamabad that an earlier PIA flight was carrying drugs and the search resulted in finding the drug. This is all inside job and everyone gets paid.
