PESHAWAR: The Provincial Civil Service (PCS) Officers Association on Monday announced that officers from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata would wear black armbands on Tuesday (today) to protest the government failure to deliver on its promises.

A statement issued here said that the decision was taken at a meeting of the association held at the civil secretariat under the chairmanship of Ghafoor Beg.

The meeting was informed that the government had failed to implement the directives of the chief minister and recommendations of a ministers committee on civil service reforms.

The government was also criticised for not taking up the issue of 17 to 18 promotions, not annulling the ‘illegal and unjust’ apportioned formulae 93, extension of the schedule, executive allowance for civil servants, withdrawal of biased transfers and constitution of a placement committee to ensure merit in postings. The meeting noted that the government’s failure to deliver on its promises had led to poor governance in the province.

It said that the association comprising 700 PCS officers had decided to wear black armbands across the province and Fata, while a general body meeting would also be called soon to decide a future course of action.
