LAKKI MARWAT: Police claimed to have arrested a suspected militant and over a dozen proclaimed offenders during a search and strike operation in the localities bordering the frontier tribal region on Saturday.

An official said the operation was launched on the directives of district police officer Syed Khalid Hamdani wherein security forces also assisted the police.

The law enforcers eliminated hideouts of criminal gangs and miscreants in the border villages, said the official, adding poppy crop grown on a vast tract of land in Landi Mir Salam area was also destroyed. He said a suspected militant identified as Sadullah wanted in cases of attacks on law enforcers, murder and attempted murder, was among the 15 proclaimed offenders captured during the daylong search operation. The personnel also seized five Kalashnikovs, a rifle, seven pistols, nine shotguns, 778 bullets and narcotics, and registered cases against the anti-social elements, he added.
