This is a defensive system to take of cruise and short range missiles. No defensive system is 100 % effective but if it can take care of majority of the incoming missiles , it had done its job. The rest will be taken care of by Pinaka mark 2. It has already been tested during operation, Indian Army was very happy with the results.

As an Indian, I think this is too much. We may not consider as a bhakt but we are turning it now. We are searching any point that will show as right. But I think it is enough. World is doing many greater think but we are only showing off. We do lack of many things. Literacy, woman safety, sanitation and counting on. We are good at this military, power but we need to seriously reintrospect ourselves. I'm not saying this can be done in a year but we all have to take small steps towards it. @Rehmat, It took us 18 years to build the cryogenic upper stage after Russia refused to share the technology. But right now we have perhaps one of the most reliable launch platforms in the world. Time spent learning is not a waste of time. We tried and had a hard time building the Kaveri engine. That is a learning opportunity. Learning never happens 'fast', it takes time to happen. Just like ISRO once we ramp up in aerospace and metallurgy we will start competing with the best.

Another factor which goes unnoticed, that India's defence budget include pension money for its millions ex service personnel which is not incase of Pakistan. If you deduct the pension amount it will be below 2% of GDP for India.

In this regard, both Pakistan ($1,200 per capita GDP) and India ($1,400) are pathetic. Botswana in Africa is much ahead with a per capita of over $7,000. Shame on both countries.

Its economics stupid ! Only a certain percent of GDP can be invested (or rather wasted as its largely nonproductive ) for defence projects. Pakistan should work on two fronts first and foremost to increase GDP second to buy peace with India.
