PESHAWAR: Dr Noor Mohammad, dean faculty of engineering, University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, has been appointed as pro-vice-chancellor of the varsity.

The appointment has been made by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra in his capacity as the UET chancellor, for a period of two years, according to a notification issued by the higher education department.

Dr Mohammad will act as the acting vice-chancellor till the appointment of a regular vice-chancellor.

Dr Mohammad has been serving as dean faculty of engineering since Feb 2015. Previously, he remained the chairman department of mining engineering for five years. He completed his PhD from the University of Nottingham, UK, in 1998 and spent over 30 years in engineering education.

He has served as member of syndicate for three terms at UET as well as remained an active member of its academic council, board of studies, board of advance studies and research, director postgraduate studies and coordinator Mardan campus.

Dr Mohammad is actively involved in research and has supervised about 20 undergraduate and postgraduate students; and more than 30 publications in national and international journals.
