UPPER DIR/MANSEHRA: Two persons were killed and as many injured in rain-related incidents in Upper Dir and Mansehra districts on Monday.

According to locals, a shopkeeper was killed when an avalanche hit his shop in the Maloo Khwar locality of remote Doog Dara. The victim was identified as Abdullah Jan.

An avalanche also hit Hido area of Brawal tehsil, and blocked the main Brawal-Shahi road to traffic.

The people of mountainous areas faced difficulties due to heavy snowfall as many link roads in Kohistan valley, Gwaldi, Doog Dara, Ganshal, Guryal and Usheri Dara remained closed. In Mansehra, a man was killed and two were injured when a shelter caved-in in Baffa area on Sunday night.

Three labourers working on construction of a check-wall around Siren River near Baffa were trapped inside a shelter when its roof collapsed. Local people rushed to the spot and retrieved them.

However, a labourer Mohammad Kashif was pulled out dead, while Mohammad Sabir and Mohammad Iqbal sustained injuries and were shifted to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital.
