Minister for States and Frontier Regions (Safron) Abdul Qadir Baloch on Sunday urged religious scholars and leaders of all religious to parties to "unanimously declare a fatwa on any terrorist attack", Radio Pakistan reported.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of a two-day conference on Islam and peace titled 'Moderate Dialogue and Community Peace' in Islamabad, Baloch asked religious scholars and leaders to condemn terrorist attacks jointly instead of issuing individual statements.

The Safron minister reassured attendees of the federal government's support to all public officials and institutions working for peace and stability across the Muslim world as well as the rest of the globe.

Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousuf at the ceremony said that unity among Islamic countries is "the only panacea for problems confronting the Muslim Ummah".

He added that the government of Pakistan has also established a National Ulema and Mashaikh Council for mutual reconciliation and guidance on important national issues.

The minister further said that Pakistan's efforts against terrorism have been appreciated worldwide.

Leader of the House in Senate Raja Zafarul Haq, who also attended the conference, highlighted the need to establish a forum to resolve conflicts within the Muslim community.
