NOWSHERA: Three children drowned in a pond at ASC Colony here on Thursday.

Majid, a relative of the children, said that Shehryar Ahmad (4), his cousin Abdul Hanan (5) and Abdul Hadi, were playing outside their home when they fell into the nearby rainwater pond.

He said that when the children didn’t return home till late in the evening the family members made announcements through mosque loudspeakers about them. He said that later the local people recovered the children from the five feet deep pond.

However, local residents said that the parents and relatives of the children did not know about the circumstances as no one had witnessed the incident. The bodies were taken to the district headquarters hospital, Nowshera.

The cantonment police registered the case and have started investigations.
