LAHORE: Police on Sunday arrested 66 people for flying kites and seized kites, rolls and string from their custody.

Police also registered 61 cases against those arrested under Prohibition of Kite Flying (Amendment) Act 2009.

The city police spokesman said that capital city police on the directions of Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf launched a crackdown on people involved in selling, making and flying kites.

He said that during the drive against kite flying, City Division police arrested 11 people, Iqbal Town 18, Civil Lines 12, Saddar and Model Town four each. He said police also seized 100 kites, rolls and string from their custody.

The spokesman also said that no one would be allowed to fly kites in the city, adding that they appealed to parents to stop their children from doing so.
