New ISI chief, PM Nawaz hold first meeting

Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar on Friday called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, in the first such visit since his appointment as chief of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) earlier this month, a statement from the Prime Minister's Office said.
During the meeting, the DG ISI and the prime minister discussed policy guidelines and internal security, sources in the PM House told DawnNews.
The premier appreciated the role ISI has played in the anti-terrorism war.
Gen Mukhtar replaced Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar as head of ISI earlier in December.
The position of the ISI’s director general fell vacant after Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar was transferred to National Defence University Islamabad as its president.
Till Dec 7, Gen Mukhtar had been serving as corps commander of Karachi. He was promoted to the rank of lieutenant general and posted to the army’s Corps V in Sept 2014.
Prior to his stint in Karachi, he has served in ISI as head of its counter-terrorism wing. He has commanded a brigade in South Waziristan and also served in operations directorate of the army.
Naveed Mukhtar was commissioned in the Armoured Corps regiment in 1983. He is a graduate of the Command and Staff College Quetta, National Defense University Islamabad and War Course USA. He had commanded a Mechanised Division.

@Imtiaz ali khan The majority of the people of Pakistan think otherwise and Nawaz Sharif is the head of the country as a result. Learn to respect the voice of the people of Pakistan. Which means learn to respect election results. Vox Populi, Vox Dei ("The Voice of the People is the Voice of God", as the wise Greeks of ancient times used to say).

@iffi If the 2013 elections were flawed, as you claim, and in fact the majority did not vote for PMLN, then Imran Khan would have been able to gather more support than the piddling few thousands who showed up at his disgraceful "dharna" where he tried to overthrow the elected government through sheer force of a mob. Imran Khan, and Pakistan was saved. Stop being brainwashed by the anti-democratic forces in Pakistan.

@ahmed could nt agree more. If the anti Democratic elements in our society continue to let the likes of Mubashir Luqman and Shahid Masood form opinions for them, they will continue to see all evil in politicians. Even the anti democracy Dharna of 2014 and Islamabad lockdown would be seen by them as will of the people.

@ahmed I have to go with the voice of honesty. Mega corrupt billionaires are not the voice, they are just very good in exploiting the poor people. It's not about learning, it more about realizing that mega uneducated people of Pakistan who don't know any thing better, because they have been kept at a low IQ and poor for a reason. That being said go vote for Nawaz and Zardari looters. Same can be said about Indian politicians who use hate and poverty of masses to win and come into power. God Bless I'm glad to think differ. Love Pak Armed forces always and always and also love IK and anyone who is not corrupt. Shanti.

If he won majority of anything it is the seats not the votes. Even the seat majority was assembled later when a lot of other MNAs 'joined' the Nawaz Lwague.
