The official website of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government was temporarily hacked by a group calling itself the 'Pashtun Cyber Army', it emerged Thursday.
The hackers defaced kp.gov.pk with a message criticising Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, whose party governs KP.
"Shame on KPK people who elected a party run from Bani Gala," reads the text.
The hackers have also criticised what they allege is the "illegal occupation of Fata, Pashtunistan and Balochistan".
As a footnote, the hackers asked that they be given the "credit" for the hacking instead of Indian intelligence agency RAW.
A representative at KP's e-Governance Web Cell told Dawn.com via telephone that efforts were being made to restore the site to its original state.
"The site will be restored by today," he said.
The website was restored in the afternoon.
