KARAK: The United Workers Federation here has expressed resentment over the failure of federal government to fulfil its promise of releasing monthly old age pension to the workers.

Addressing the workers of salt, gypsum and other nines here the other day, the federation president, Naveed Khan Khattak, said that the PML-led federal government had announced in its annual budget that Rs5,000 monthly old age pension would be paid to every worker who had attained the age of 60 years. They regretted that the government had failed to fulfil its promise.

The labour union leaders demanded early release of the pension and marriage and death grants for sons and daughters of the workers.

They also said that a special hospital and foundation should be set up for the welfare of workers’ families. They said that record of the workers should be maintained at the sites of mines.

They also demanded establishment of a labour colony in the district.
