HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad anti-terrorism court on Monday remanded Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London activists Momin Khan, a member of the party’s coordination committee, and four other activists into judicial custody for 14 days.

They were produced in the court by the Hali Road police, who had arrested them in a case (97/16) pertaining to the possession of explosive substance.

The case against Mr Khan, Intikhab Alam, Raheel Qureshi, Imran Noorani and Tasneem was registered under section 4/5 of the Explosive Substance Act on behalf of the state.

Mr Khan was arrested from outside the court of a special magistrate soon after he was granted bail in another case on Sunday. While Mr Noorani was arrested earlier, the other three suspects were arrested in the Faqir Ka Pir area on Saturday-Sunday night.

Zafar Rajput, the Hyderabad zone in-charge in the party’s organisational structure, is said to have gone into hiding.

The police claimed to have recovered four hand grenades, two rifles, two pistols and more than 1,600 bullets from four of the suspects (except for Mr Qureshi) and registered four separate cases against them. Zafar Rajput, Sharif Khan and Amir Qureshi have been shown absconders in the main case.

Meanwhile, one more office of the MQM-London (in Tandojam) was demolished on Monday, taking the number of its offices demolished in Hyderabad district over the last two days to four.
