Housing the poor

Published October 21, 2016

THIS is apropos of your editorial ‘Housing the poor’ (Oct 16). The difficulty in finding shelter for urbanites has increased with the rise in inflation.

The government should facilitate the urban poor. First, it should introduce housing schemes instead of giving house rents to its employees.

It should introduce housing schemes as is done in the US and the UK , then deduct instalments every month for 20 to25 years. Second, the government should introduce leasing housing schemes with less than seven per cent interest rate.
