INDORE: Ravichandran Ashwin claimed 13 wickets to lead India's whitewash against New Zealand as the hosts romped to a 321-run triumph on day four of the third and final Test in Indore on Tuesday.

Ashwin with career-best match figures of 13-130 helped India skittle out the visitors, who were in pursuit of a daunting 475-run target, for 153 in under two sessions of play.

With the series victory, India snatched the prestigious ICC Test mace from their neighbours Pakistan.

Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq was handed the mace last month at Qaddafi Stadium, Lahore after the last Test between the West Indies and India ended as a draw due to rain.

Earlier, Pakistan had made a thumping return in the four-match series against England with a 10-wicket win at The Oval, London to level the series that saw Pakistan stay at number two spot.
